amda® offers more than just the option to distalize molars in a skeletal anchorage as part of a class II treatment.
When distalizing upper molars as part of class II therapy, three things are important or to be aimed for:
A continuous application of force over 24 hours of physical movement of the tooth or teeth and an anchorage without undesirable side effects.
The first requirement can only be realized by equipment that is independent of the patient's compliance. In particular, dento-alveolar anchored appliances - regardless of whether they are sliding mechanics or pendulum appliances - have some serious problems. This primarily includes the yielding of the anchorage due to the reciprocal effect of the distalization spring. This can have different effects, not only during the distalization of the molars but also during the subsequent retraction of the front teeth.
